PJ Harvey is in a category all by herself. Since 1992, the singer-songwriter has made complex music that channels a primal, earthly energy. Earlier this month, Harvey released “I Inside the Old Year Dying,” her 10th album, and her first since 2016. In a sense, the album is a companion piece to “Orlam,” Harvey’s second book of poetry: both pieces evoke the same feelings of discovery, vulnerability, and inching closer to something divine. At the link in our bio, the singer-songwriter speaks to @amandapetrusich about the blurry lines between music and poetry, emerging from an artistic fallow period, and what she’s learned about her creative process over the years.
