Pictured here, shortly before sunrise, is what #CIA calls its "New Headquarters Building" or NHB.

As you may remember from a previous #PhotoOps post, the "Original Headquarters Building" (OHB) was designed in the mid-1950s and completed in 1961. By the early 1980s, the Agency needed more space.

The final approved design was what is now known as NHB: two, six-story office towers built into a hillside behind OHB. Linked to the OHB in a seamless blend of the two structures, the main entrance to NHB features a huge skylight ceiling and a spectacular view of OHB.

The groundbreaking ceremony for NHB took place on May 24, 1984; the building was completed by March 1991.
