Painted amidst a tumultuous period in the artist’s life, this colorful portrait of Picasso’s famous muse Marie-Thérèse reflects the artists inspiration and admiration for his lover. In ‘Femme endormie’, Picasso draws on the bright summer light, rendering Marie-Thérèse in vibrant, sweeping colours. With the curves of her figure occupying most of the canvas, Picasso offers a deeply personal and intimate view of his lover.
