A career spanning six decades and many defining moments, Josef Koudelka’s story is etched into the history of photojournalism and of Magnum itself. Yet, throughout his career, Koudelka has eschewed talks, interviews and teaching opportunities – jokingly referring to himself as “Mr. No" – propagating the enigma surrounding the man behind the lens.
In a new book published by @aperturefnd and @magnumfoundation, Josef Koudelka: Next, writer Melissa Harris compiles ten years of exclusive interviews with the artist, recounting his life and career since his birth in 1938, his two decades in political exile, six decades of photographic practice and his philosophy of photography.
