How does the queen triggerfish (Balistes vetula) protect itself from predators? When being pursued, this fish will seek shelter in a crevice and clinch its dorsal fin tightly against the walls. By locking its fins into such a position, it makes it hard for the foe to drag it out. The same defense also makes it difficult for a predator to swallow it! The queen triggerfish lives around coral reefs along the eastern and western Atlantic Ocean.
