You may have seen the artist's 'British Library' at Tate Modern, a site-specific installation that celebrates the diversity of the British population. 📚

In this film we visit Shonibare's East London studio where he has created a separate exhibition space for emerging artists.

d4vidscott Great to see this hugely lauded contemporary Artist giving back and supporting the work of younger artists, most of whom will never experience the level of support and encouragement the establishment chose to lavish on him throughout his career. Yinka Shonibare the outsider, perceived as different and foreign, defined by his hair and skin colour was largely cushioned against these perceptions by an art world establishment dedicated to the development of this ‘otherness’ in the work. So good to see he appreciates the continued support given to him by the establishment. (He is wise to do so!). Yinka understands this and his reluctance to openly diss the High Priests and Priestesses, is well placed. Our ‘curators-of-contemporary-art-world’ have worked tirelessly over the decades to enable his perspective as a Black / Brit (ish) Artist to shine so very, very brightly
