Happy Birthday to @クリス・ヘムズワース - a mighty Thor, a funny fucker, and a total sweetheart who made the time to be in our dopey @jayandsilentbob Reboot flick (while he was opening a giant movie)! Not only did he make the Reboot worthy, Chris made it funnier! And as if that wasn’t gift enough, then he gave me one of my favorite moments in a movie theater this year: the Frigga scene in @avengers. Lots of fun was had with far Thor, but I enjoyed much more the bittersweet exploration of Thor’s trauma and acceptance of his failure. Chris pulled off an amazing piece of acting from under the rubber blubber (while looking a lot like me with my shirt off). I’ve been heavy and I’ve also felt broken; Chris nailed it (with a huge assist from the tremendous #renerusso). And later, when Thor pleads to be the one to Snap everyone back because he just wants to “do something good. Something right”? He’s all of us who’ve tried and failed. If Chris’ heartbreaking portrayal of despair goes unnoticed when the awards are given out, we should make and give him a Golden Hammer or some kind of trophy. The guy’s a prince! I hope he lives longer than Thor! #KevinSmith #chrishemsworth #birthday #JayAndSilentBobReboot

Honestly, Thor is my favorite MCU character arc. Chris Hemsworth really took the time to talk about and focus on Thor getting that arc and his acting is phenomenal. He’s also the Avenger I find to be the most relatable because of Hemsworth’s choices and his discussions getting him lingering moments where you feel pain and loss with him in ways I feel weren’t as well done with certain other Avengers until Endgame. It felt like sometimes we were told rather than shown certain others were experiencing pain or loss and after Ragnarok Thor was consistent in making you feel his journey. Technically, he feels like the Avenger who lost the most as well overall and his strength has little to do with muscles in terms of that history.

‘We all fail at who we are SUPPOSED to be. A measure of a person, of a hero, is how well they succeed at who they are.’ This quote has really stuck with me. It really was an amazing mother/son moment. And advice we should all take to heart. And I’m lucky enough to share a birthday with The Mighty Thor! And a birthday month with you Kev!! #LeoPower

Theres too much attention on “They made jokes about the fat guy” (news flash, your good friends usually do) and not enough attention on how well @chrishemsworth played how broken Thor was, it was fucking heartbreaking and left me in tears a few times. The scenes with Rene Russo were absolutely beautiful

Completely agree. Chris is so heartbreakingly amazing as “fat Thor”.
He’s so utterly devastated to have failed his entire family (yes that includes Loki) and all he can do is grieve. It’s a great character exploration since no one thinks a God can be “breakable”. Lovely tribute Kevin. ❤️❤️

That Frigga scene wrecked me. Having lost my mother a few years back, that thought of getting one more chance but knowing that you can’t stay - it hung with me. Hemsworth quietly became my favorite avenger a while back. It’s great knowing he’s gonna be around a little while longer.
