I was hiking @runyoncanyon last night, and on the benches at the base, I saw a teenager wearing a #Clerks hat, watching a video on his phone. Now I’m not sure if anybody out there knows this, but I *made* Clerks once. So to try to surprise this kid and give him the thrill of his Gen Z life, I stopped and said “I like your hat.” Without ever glancing up, he said “Thanks.” Undaunted, I waited as the kid continued watching his video, lingering for a good minute, hoping he’d eventually make eye contact with his middle-aged stalker and finally recognize Silent Bob. But the kid never looked up. Kids! I’m an old man, so take this advice with a grain of salt. And the advice is this: Look up every once in awhile. The Hat Man might be staring at you. malachyf.kelliher Its true you never know who you may run into. Ive spent the last three days doing some work in a hidden legends house his name is Ron Rudat, the man designed and illustrated over 120 action figures for G.I Joe between the years of like 1984-1987 not only that this man designed the original cobra kai symbol that they ended up using and still use today!!!! Blows my mind how little recognition people get for influencing us threw our lives. Oh and Kevin so proud of you for getting healthy after the heart attack we need you to continue being you for as long as possible so stay sober and healthy so you can continue to influence the world positively!!! 😁😁

rebornprincess *smh* That kid will never get it. He missed the coolest most completely random chance encounter that will never happen to me, but would be left speechless if it did! I used to manage a video store! I wanted to be cool like Randall but was totally Dante! That movie is still one I quote all the time, and to the point now that I don't even realize I'm doing it. (My favorite being, "This job would be great if it wasn't for the fucking customers."). Maybe some day that kid will learn not to live in his phone, but until then he's literally missing out on life. Stay cool Silent Bob! ❤

ichronicrenz I fucking love you Kevin Smith you inspire me so much and it breaks my heart that so many people in my generation don't know how to appreciate and recognize talent when it smaks them in the face. I grew up watching all of your movies and you have been an inspiration for me my entire life. I entered the contest for comicon just to meet you and interview you. TBH the comic Con pass was just whatever to me I just wanted to meet you and shake your hand. I hope so much that I get the amazing pleasure to work with you some day.

jloydwilkes I love this and at the same time am a bit saddened too!!! I told my nephew that his generation is going to be the end of the human race and he laughed pretty hard and said...."I know! Right?!?" Wow. How do you respond to that? It's not that they can't be taught, I think it's more of they don't see any value in learning anything. There's an incredibly 'Teeter-Totter' future upon us and it's kinda scaring me to death!!! Best we can do I suppose is keep on keepin on.....
