(We knew it was time for her to move on when she towered over every puppy in class and began knocking them all over like puppy-shaped bowling pins.) Today she started her new class and, well, I think I'm officially a weird dog person. I am, right? I didn't mean to become this. I swear. I've just always liked having a dog around, and the older I get, the more I learn, and the more I learn, the more I see that bringing a dog into my life just isn't something I can, in good conscience, do halfway. Making the decision to end Gracie's life put this into fierce perspective for me, just the sheer towering cliff-face responsibility of it all. If I'm going to be a dog's world, I owe it to them to be the best dang dog world I can possibly be. So today it was back to class, this time with a bunch of gangly dog teens, tongues lolling and hormones raging. I sweat a lot in class. I want to be the best, but I'm not. I don't want to look silly, but I do. So I sweat and I learn and I push through the discomfort. And sometimes it's embarrassing, often it's exhausting, but always it's worth it. P.S.
