Well that was obvious. . And ALL THE DEAD BOYS was born. . I’m not sure where the name came from - it certainly has nothing to do with the “boys” actually looking dead. I just liked the way the words all sounded together. . I’d always loved painting and art and long been fascinated with special FX makeup. For a brief moment I’d dreamed about going into a program to learn mask making and prosthetics.... but instead I watched some Youtube videos and figured I’d start simple. . Bruising and scabs. . Some scars and a bit of blood. . A tentative attempt at prosthetics.... . It was great to be the one taking the pictures - knowing exactly the light that would make everything look it’s creepiest. . I’ve gone through phases where I shoot a TON for the series. . And huge stretches where I’ve shot nothing. . But it’s a series I love working on. . There are only ever two of us. Me and the person I’m shooting. No stylist. No makeup or hair (that’s all me). ALL THE DEAD BOYS helped me remember why I love making images. How important it is to work on personal projects.
