The 1,800-Year-Old Mekari Shrine Asked A Popular Variety Store for Advice?!😲⛩️
In recent years, it has become difficult for shrines to make money.
So, Mr. Takase, the 32nd chief priest of Mekari Shrine in Kitakyushu City, requested help from Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten, a popular variety store that offers a selection of Japanese traditional handicrafts with a modern flair.✨
The rebranding of the shrine started drawing attention to the enshrined goddess of guidance who “controls the ebb and flow of the tides."
In order to guide people's hearts, they changed the base color of the shrine’s amulets and charms to white, a color that symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings, and remodeled the conferment office.
The amulets are given after the priest rings a bell above a rock, which is a part of the object of worship.
The fortune slips that look like puffer fish, a specialty of the area around the Kanmon Strait, are particularly amusing!🐡
