What on earth do you do with your C-section scar after birth? I don't know about you, but I find it outstanding that we go through a major operation like that and have no physiotherapy or are even told the best way to recover. It's the same with vaginal births too. 🤯

So anyway, as I've been seeing @martadowner who is a pelvic health physiotherapist who I've been going to since I had pelvic girdle pain with Alfie, I thought I'd share some of the products she's been recommending to me.

Postnatal care shouldn't be a privilege and we don't want to gatekeep this information. I promise to share the scar exercises I'm doing soon too!

So first things first, I didn't do any of this until the scab healed!

Then I was told how important it is to keep the area hydrated! So it's super important to keep drinking water (as a side note it stops you being constipated which is really important for pelvic floor recovery!).

Here's the products I was recommended:

✨ Naqi scar treatment. I've got the Skin Optimising oil but I was also recommended the repair oil! I use this morning and night to do my exercises. It keeps the scar super hydrated - just be warned it has a slight orange tint!

✨Alhydran medical after care for the skin. I put this on day or night after doing my exercises! Although I've been told that the 'BapScarCare silicone therapy for scars' is a brilliant one for night time. I'd already bought this one though!

✨ Scarban C-section recovery kit! This is a plaster specifically to help your scar - it wasn't cheap, but Martha says it's the best on the market and you can use it again and again for about 6 months! It comes with a product to clean it!

It reduces moisture loss, heals the scar quicker and better and also heals overproduction of scar tissue.

I've also been seeing her in person for 'Lymphatouch' treatment.

If you are able to, I really recommend seeing a pelvic health physiotherapist whether you give birth vaginally or by caesarian! Even just once. Especially before going back to exercise.

If you have any concerns you can definitely be pushed to be seen by the NHS physio too!

I hope this is helpful and any questions please shout. ❤️
