Every woman with big b00bs will have been told she's attention seeking. Had people stare at their cleavage instead of their eyes. Been catcalled and harassed. Second guessed their outfit choice. Felt cheap and easy. Felt like they had to cover up to be taken seriously.

You know, I realised something. When I breastfeed, even if I'm just chatting away whilst feeding, trolls will often comment and tell me that I'm attention seeking.

I'd like us to consider that for a moment: what am I seeking attention for? For the fact I'm feeding my child? Or because it's assumed I want people to look at my chest? Why would I want that attention whilst feeding a baby. Why would I want that attention ever?

And you know, it's the same thing that I was told when I was just thirteen years old. A child. To stop attracting attention. Often I'd just be wearing a tank top. Just existing in my body.

Why do we assume girls want attention? That it's their responsibility to cover up. It teaches us from a young age that if we do get unwanted attention and advances, it's our fault. And I really did blame myself for certain experiences.

We should be teaching men and boys that we are not objects. That we should be allowed to exist in our bodies without being objectified.

We see it in the media too. How many times I've read an article about me saying that I'm displaying my generous cleavage. My ample assets. Just for walking down the street in clothes. 'displaying'. Like one of those display cabinets our parents put plates on that they'd never eat from.

We should be allowed to just exist in our bodies. Some of us have big b00bs and we spend years wishing we didn't. Wishing tops would like as nice on us as others. Wishing people didn't assume the size of our cleavage was linked to our morals or promiscuity. Wishing we were taken seriously. That you'd look at our eyes and not our chest. We notice and it makes us feel horrible.

Whether feeding a baby or not, we're not attention seeking, your attention is unwanted. Trust me.

This is a poem that calls out the hypersexualisation of b00bs. A journey of learning to love yourself. It felt fitting to share on World Breastfeeding Week.❤️🙏
