Over more than four decades of painting, Marden's meticulous and deliberate abstract works emerged as a defiant study of the tensions between complexity and simplicity. Marden's work "Untitled" (1973) was displayed at the New Museum in 1979 as part of "The 1970s: New American Painting." His work was also included in the 1983 exhibition, "Language, Drama, Source and Vision," a group show inaugurating our 583 Broadway location.
