And although I sadly won't be attending this year, it's still working its magic on me. I felt inspired to share a snippet of the last captured (not yet posted) episode of my HARTFWRD YouTube channel. This is my take on what Burning Man represents.. and how last year's experience was one of my most challenging yet rightfully representative of the power, principles and all that Burning Man stands for, for me. Putting myself in this potent environment not only confronted me with the intensity of changes I was actually facing at this time in my life but essentially reflected back to me the pain of reality I was in avoidance of feeling. It was all amplified on the playa yet also allowed me the space and perspective to be with all that was, showing me how I needed to lean into the discomfort and fully show up for what mattered most. Which at this time; was to let go of all I was trying to hold up within my own world and attend wholeheartedly to the grandiosity of my mother's palliative care and precious last pages of her life. Welcoming this change in my life, quite literally was like throwing myself into the fire of all that burning man stands for. How uncomfortable it is to take ourselves out of the structure, routine, and life we're so attached to. All the things we think we need to do, be and create. How we think we don't have enough time, lost in this somewhat default world and totally disconnected from what actually matters most. So unwilling to feel the discomfort of what our deepest hearts' truth is or what our life circumstances may actually be, in fear of losing this self and world we've created and think we need to so desperately sustain. It's about pulling ourselves out, getting perspective, embracing change, and really seeing the self; listening to something beyond these default ways of being and thinking, and letting something deeper lead our way. I really believe that throwing ourselves into the fire of change and letting burn what no longer serves.. is the fast track to our true selves and ultimately the way to God.
