The Spanish football president, Luis Rubiales, celebrated their world cup win by kissing her on the lips. She said it made her feel uncomfortable and it wasn't consensual. Rather than apologising, he is claiming it was consensual and that Jenni is lying. In protest, all 81 players have refused to play until he resigns and the Spanish Football Federation has responded by telling them they're obliged to play for their national team and taking legal action against Jenni for lying. I mean ... What the f*ck! 🤯 A few thoughts: It's a bit like when a man touches a women's waist but says it's harmless. Yet they never do it to men. In what world was it an ok way to celebrate the woman's win? But even when it's all on camera for the world to see this man is still gaslighting Jenni Hermoso and accusing her of lying. It's only no surprise that nearly every woman I know has a story of sexual harrassment and assault yet never tells anyone. Because of this culture where people defend the man or accuse the woman of lying. Time and time again we see it. On a worse scale we saw Man Utd almost take back Mason Greenwood until their was protest. And now we're reading headlines trying to garner sympathy for him and his career. WE ALL HESRD THAT FOOTAGE. We live in a world where harassment, assault, and violence against women is so commonplace. So trivialised. So normalised. That we victim blame or cast them as liars and the men move on untouched. They are protecting this man and accusing Jenni of lying even when it happened on camera. We are all someone's daughter, sister, mother, girlfriend, wife. But we shouldn't have to be associated to a man for you to respect us. This man has overstepped the mark and overshadowed the girls' incredible World Cup Victory. He needs to resign.
