I've been looking forward to Tommy's paternity leave starting for so long - mainly because with Alf's we didn't get to go anywhere because we were in and out of lockdown. I had all these high plans and expectations that we'd go travelling... But the day came and we'd organised nothing. 🤣

We originally wanted to do Route 66, but we realised it wouldn't be that practical to do in the August heat... And on top of that Tommy is Best Man at a wedding half way through the month.

So, what to do with 2 kids? You know travelling is such a nice idea and maybe we still will, but the practicality of it all is a lot. Ultimately if the kids are happy, we're all happy.

So we decided to kick things off with an impromptu trip in Blighty. The Four Seasons Hampshire invited us to come and stay ((AD - Discounted stay, with zero obligation to post I should add) and it seemed too good an opportunity to turn down.

I wasn't really planning on doing these little diaries but I gathered that it may give some inspiration for some kid friendly holiday spots. And it may encourage those who get it to actually take paternity leave - because according to studies, only a third of eligible fathers actually use their paternity leave in the UK. They're worried about stigma, job progression - basically all the things we worry about as mums. But I guess we need men to take it because a) it's their right, and b) it helps to reduce maternity discrimination.

Anyway, hopefully you find these interesting. I'm currently lying on the floor in a random room feeding Ada whilst doing this because I've realised that all sharing a room is not that practical as Tommy has to stay in the room with Alf and I spend my time keeping Ada away until Alf is asleep. Still a nice chance to do some work.

Anyway, needless to say, we absolutely LOVED our time here, even though Alf was back to 5:30am starts. 🤪 he is still talking about that red slide!
