Here is a short history of how the “method air” got named: in the early ‘80’s we - as younger skaters - were struggling to get speed in order to do do bigger airs. Someone (possibly @nblender) suggested pulling up on the board while airborne in order to bring it above your upper body, thus getting more height without having to get more speed.
