In retrospect everyone has these life changing grand tales of how this album changed lives but from my standpoint. This album was so risky it barely made a ripple in philly. I heard “Uptown” on radio one time only. Seen some ads in @RightOndigital (lol side note, I’m freaked out #RightOnMagazine actually has social media)——but this album only went gold after @Prince was declared king post #PurpleRain. Not to say that this wasn’t one of his strongest offerings. It’s a masterpiece! But I chuckle inside when fans use this album as means to prove their #PrinceRogersNelson IQ is higher than yours.
