Did you know? The harvest mouse (Micromys minutus) is the smallest rodent in Europe. It only weighs around 0.25 ounces (7 grams) and grows to about 3 inches (7.6 centimeters) long—that’s similar in size to the average human adult’s thumb! This critter can be found in parts of northern Asia in addition to Europe and prefers habitats with tall grasses, such as meadows and grain fields. It’s quite acrobatic, using its prehensile tail and opposable outer toes to climb plant stems and grasses.
