It’s no coincidence that when my children and I began learning about the Gullah Geechie people, my decor started to become heavily influenced by “low country style.”

-the palm fronds
-the hues of haint blue
-the woven textures
-the African instruments

It’s all an homage to a people that I yearn to connect to.
