Hey guys, Elise here! I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who participated and had the loveliest things to say during my two day takeover of #designsponge. Although, day two did not go as I had planned or imagined—there was no lack of excitement on my part. To have the opportunity to engage with you all in this space on @gracey_bonney platform—that she so graciously extends. I count myself deeply fortunate to have someone like her and (all of you) to lend your support in uplifting my work and the meaningful for work of countless other Black and POC creatives.

Tonight I go to bed resting well—in immense gratitude to be able to go after my dreams and the goals that I set for myself. No matter the challenges that may exist in my reality. It’s not lost on me the sacrifices of minorities and marginalized individuals—who too have had dreams they may not have been able to realize. So, I will continue to do the work of honoring those who came before for me and those to come after I am long gone. Me realizing my dream of opening @winniesbakery > to becoming a food writer/recipe developer for culinary publications > to authoring my first cookbook. And now, opening my own eco-sustainable product and food production studio @oecostudios—it’s been quite a decade in this industry. And, I’m only just getting started. Because, my BLACK LIFE MATTERS and I have so much more to do.

Again, thank you for helping me to feel at home, in a space that is not normally my own @Grace Bonney. It is with a full heart that I am humbled by the genuine display of care, consideration and admiration that I have been met with. That I am able to mirror those same intentions right back at all of you.
