It was so comfortable and freeing being able to go braless! And then I realised walk around that it was slightly see through and spent the rest of the day paranoid covering up with my shirt. And then I noticed men walking around without their tops on, not one person batting an eyelid. I thought: How nice must it be to be a dude. To walk around and feel hot and just whip a top off. Not having to worry about their bodies being objectified. Not having to worry about walking home after dark. Not having to think about an outfit and how it will be perceived. It's interesting how our morals and sexuality are so intertwined with our outfit choices, but also how we can't win. Too short? Slu*Ty. Asking for it! But too long? Frumpy and prudish. It's crazy really because we just don't objectify men the same way. I remember seeing a quote by @farida.d.author that said: "if respecting women is conditional upon them putting on more clothes. Then what we respect isn't women, but the clothes." Anyway I'm not sure where we're going with this, but I hope things change by the time Ada is an adult. You want to wrap them in cotton wool, but I hate when people talk about protecting girls when we should be teaching boys to respect girls. 🫶」7月19日 5時51分
