The jarring image, created in 1976, suggests a darker side to the fantasy of a picture-perfect romance... British artist Linder Sterling (known as Linder) was born in Liverpool in 1954. Since the late 1970s, Linder has been making artwork rooted in photography, confrontational performances and radical feminism. However, she is probably best known for her collages, influenced both by artists such as John Heartfield and by the transgressive British punk scene in which Linder was immersed.
