The whole time I was here I was sort of pinching myself with how happy I was. It was just the best escape! I can't believe my sister and I are in this chapter of life together. We've always been so close, but she started dating her husband when they were 21 (well they met at school) and I was single until I was 33. So it's just mad that we now have two children within 4 and 5 months of each other.

But I digress - the location! I can't take credit for it because my sister found it on Air B&B. And it was *chefs kiss* perfect.

It's just a 2 1/2 hour drive from the Eurotunnel (we drove 90 minutes from Bruges), and there's different size houses you can rent. We got one with 4 bedrooms which meant a room each for the adult couples, then Alf in a room and Jasper in a room. This was the best part as we could put the kiddies to bed and then play games and watch movies. It just felt so much more relaxed than staying in a hotel room!

It's self catering but there is a restaurant on site, so we did an amazing 4 course dinner one night. But it was actually nice to do our own thing.

You can rent bikes and helmets to cycle around and the best thing is the Netherlands has cycle lanes everywhere so it's so so safe!
And on site you can swim in the sea, there was even a playground. But more to the point there's just so much for kids to do in the area:

We spent a LOT of time at Monkey Town AKA the best softplay ever ever. We had the best time there. There's also a big outdoor playground we went to (Playground 't Appeltje) where you can sit on the deck and eat. It was pouring when we were there, which has definitely been a theme of the trip (seriously where has summer been?). There's a petting farm as well but we turned up the day it closed. Oops! 🤪

Alf did decide to throw his Toniebox character JJ aka cocomelon into the water and despite rescuing him once we was lost and unretrieved a second time despite our best efforts. So if you ever go there, please try and find JJ on the sea bed. 🙊🥹
