テート・ギャラリーさんのインスタグラム動画 - (テート・ギャラリーInstagram)「‘Imagination is merely the exploitation of our memory.‘ - Pierre Bonnard 💭 Pierre Bonnard relied on memory to create his work, often making sketches in pencil then painting in vivid colour once back in his studio, capturing the spirit of what he remembered. The subject he went back to most was Marthe de Méligny, his lifelong partner. The pair met in Paris in 1893, and were together until her death 49 years later. Bonnard made over 300 paintings of their daily life together - sipping coffee at the kitchen table, sat beside their dogs, falling asleep on the sofa. Many of his paintings feel like a snapshot of these fleeting moments. Marthe suffered from tuburculosis and bathing provided relief for her symptoms, and so in many of Bonnard’s paintings we find Marthe in the tub.
