9 OF 31 / 31DAYSOF @all_the_dead_boys - To pay my NYC rent I worked with a model scout convention shooting their hopefuls. It was the kind of company that told EVERYONE they had potential. And if they just attended the upcoming convention with some recent pictures (that’s where I came in) they just might be discovered.

I hit the road with a hair and makeup artist and we shot up to fifteen people a day. Two looks each. In and out in 45 minutes. All whipped up out of a Fairfield Inn motel room.
.
(We only stayed at Fairfield Inns because they were built from a pinkish faux stucco that worked great as a backdrop)
.
It was like photography bootcamp.
.
I had to find something beautiful about each and every one of them. And I had 36 frames about 12 minutes to do it.
.
Most of these people would never become models.
.
But they did get great pictures for a very fair price.
.
(We were less expensive than Glamourshots which was usually their other option)
.
And I learned how to take a good picture of pretty much anyone.
.
How to help them feel at ease in front of camera
.
After one of our “Corn Tours” I’d head back to NYC and pay my rent for a good 6 months.
.
But I wanted to shoot “real” models. For “real” magazines.
.
So I moved to Athens, Greece.
