In this conversation, Dylan and Vieslav discuss various aspects of their journeys into themselves, their seeking for deeper meaning and understanding, and how it taught them about the nature of holding space for oneself and others.

Both Dylan and Vieslav each concluded with a practical technique to use as a means to inquire more deeply into how to be with oneself in a meaningful way, thus creating a deeper understanding of how to cultivate presence for others.

Dylan:
Use the basic questions to investigate one’s state of being.
- How am I being?
- What is the state of my energy, behaviours and actions?
- What qualities do they possess?
- What are they showing me?
- When am I being?
- Am I in this present moment?
- Where am I being?
- Is my awareness here?
- Am I existing elsewhere in my mind?
- Who am I being?
- Am I acting as my true, authentic self?
- What am I being?
- How would I define, if possible, the kind of state I’m in?
- Why am I being?
- What is driving me to be in this state of being?
- What is driving me to choose this course of action?

Vieslav:
“Becoming friends with stillness is one of the profound paths to know practically, how to ‘hold space’ for ‘oneself’ and for ‘others’. It’s best to start by creating space to simply sit. A quiet place where no one will disturb us, including our phones and computers, and to enter the process repeatedly. It’s better to do it frequently rather than one long sitting once a day for an hour or hour and a half. Sitting quietly for ten or fifteen minutes two, or three or four times a day to start with. Starting with simple concentration on one’s breath, around the edges of the nostrils or on the movement of the belly, without controlling it, just bearing witness and simply returning to the breath awareness every time we notice that the mind is dancing away, following thoughts and images…. Back to breath. Later on, once we develop a ‘taste’ for what is arising as a result of deepening the concentration (peace), we can slowly descend from the breath awareness, into the heart (chakra). ‘The clarity of the mind’ mediation. To be expanded upon later.”
