Bad news for the ultra rich technomaniacs flying around out there, good news for anyone who wants the world to be a little less covered in heavily polluting planes. ⁠ ⁠ The airport say they're targeting private jets because they cause “a disproportionate amount of noise nuisance and CO2 emissions per passenger.” Private jets are the worst aircraft for emissions per passenger, because they carry barely anyone on board, and they account for 14 times more pollution per person than normal planes.⁠ ⁠ Somewhere between 30-50% of these private planes currently fly from Amsterdam's Schiphol to vacation in Ibiza, Cannes and Innsbruck. Rather than getting a private flight, the airport argues passengers should instead jump on a commercial plane. Under the new measures, Schiphol says private jets will “no longer be welcome."
