豊田章男さんのインスタグラム写真 - (豊田章男Instagram)「. 毎年この時期に、欠かさず訪れる場所があります。長野県茅野市にある蓼科山聖光寺です。今から53年前、交通事故が社会問題化し、「交通戦争」と言われていた時代に、事故で悲しい思いをされる方がいなくなることを願って建てられたお寺です。以来、毎年7月18日の夏季大祭には、トヨタ、全国の販売店、グループや仕入先の代表者が集まり、祈りを捧げてきました。 2019年には、大祭にあわせて「タテシナ会議」を立ち上げ、他の自動車メーカーや自動車産業550万人を代表する業界団体の皆さんと、「安全」を最優先に考えて話し合う場もできました。ピークの1970年に1万6,765人に上った交通事故死者の数は、現在、2,610人にまで減っています。しかし、私たちの目標である「交通事故死0」には、まだほど遠い状況です。この世界から悲しい事故がなくなりますように。これからも、同じ願いを持つ人たちが会社の垣根なく集い、心ひとつに、安全なクルマ社会の実現に向き合っていきたいと思います。 There is a place I always visit every year around this time. This temple was built 53 years ago, at a time when automobile accidents were becoming a serious social issue and people talked about a “traffic war,” on behalf of those who had suffered because of traffic accidents. Ever since, representatives from Toyota, nationwide dealers, group companies, and suppliers gather here to offer prayers on July 18, the day of its summer Taisai, or great festival. We began the Tateshina Meeting in 2019 alongside the Taisai as a venue where representatives from other car manufacturers and industry organizations representing the 5.5 million members of the automotive industry can gather and share ideas, with safety as our top priority. 16,765 people lost their lives in traffic accidents in 1970, when casualties were at their highest. Now, that number has fallen to 2,610. But there is still far to go to reach our goal of zero traffic accident casualties. We pray that these tragic accidents will vanish from this world.
