In the first woodcut above, 'View From Here to Eternity', we see two figures emerging from waves that crash on to a rocky coastline. The white surf curls around the figures like fingers—Teraoka has said he wanted the waves to be deliberately 'caressing' the scene. The man on the left is removing his snorkel, and we can't help but follow his eyes which look straight to the women's bottom.
