The quiet street is almost empty aside from three people. Two women walk down the pale street bathed in the light of dusk and dim yellow street lamps with the buildings and bare branches of shadowy trees surrounding them. We get a sense we are glimpsing a passing of ordinary, daily life from, in this case, an upper window in the corner of a square.
