grow by the inch, fight for the inches💜

from time to time, it’s okay not to be okay. and it’s okay to not know everything. when scary things are happening, and you’re feeling a whirlwind of emotions, sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves and for others is to take a step back. to reflect, reconnect, and slowly…return🦋

I’ve had my fair share of fears over the past few years. the inhibition of trauma and the residual resentment that follows grief is no joke. I have been struggling for a long time.

and though I’ve come a long way, I’m still exploring all the things I loved before fear told me not to.

when I got sick from anorexia, I lost a sense of myself. my whole life and identity was wrapped around an illness that never truly served me. so my recovery thereafter meant somewhat of an exploration. I was discovering myself each and everyday, and letting each new thing be seen as a treasure. I’d welcome it all with compassion and self-respect.

but grief and mental illness is a whole other battle. You’re trying to save yourself while simultaneously coping with a loss so deep that it burns to this day. so I regretfully admit that I did put a limit on my growth. I feared what could happen next, and I chose to stop growing.

but this is everything I wish my page to stand for. I want to tell you that I too hit lows. I feel like I’m about to implode at times. but I never EVER lose hope. And I never let my self-love or worth degrade:

those are my superpowers, and my anchors in times when life ain’t so easy.

I made it a point that 2020 be different. That those terrains I was too fearful to tread will officially be explored.

I’ll start by slowly dipping in my toes,
trembling as I go,
but with every inch, I know I’ll get stronger💜

I hope only the same for you🦋
