A plane believed to be carrying Yevgeny Prigozhin, owner of the Russian mercenary force Wagner, has crashed in Russia and all aboard have been killed, according to Russia’s state Tass news agency. ⁠

Prigozhin led a short-lived uprising that challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin’s authority in June. Social-media channels close to Wagner said Russian air defenses shot down the jet.⁠

Russian aviation regulators cited by state media didn’t provide a reason for the plane crash. The government said it is investigating.⁠
