The Aka Trolley Train, in the village of Aka, Tagawa, runs on the Yusubaru Line, which was shut down before ever opening!
The Chikuho District, where Aka is located, used to thrive on coal production, and the Yusubaru Line was built to transport coal shortly after WWII (around 1945). However, as the railway neared completion, the coal industry declined and the Yusubaru Line was never opened.😥
However, it was finally opened as a sightseeing railway in 2003 after more than half a century, owing to the passion and cooperation of locals! Ride the Aka Trolley Train and feel the history of the coal mining days and the great nature of Aka.😊🌳
*The train generally runs on the 2nd Sunday of every month (except winter).
