You'd think the brown woolly monkey’s (Lagothrix lagotricha) thick fur would help protect it against the cold, but it sticks to tropical habitats. Weighing in at as much as 22 pounds (10 kilograms), it’s one of the largest primates to inhabit the tropical regions of Central America and South America. It’s found in the Amazon rainforest, where it spends most of its time in the treetops. The social animal lives in groups that can range from 10 to as many 70 members! Its favorite meals include ripe fruit, but it also supplements its diet with leaves, seeds, and insects.
